Company Profile

ENRC is a leading diversified natural resources group with integrated mining, processing, energy, logistical and marketing operations.

The Group’s assets are mostly located in the Republic of Kazakhstan and comprise: Kazchrome, Zhairem GOK, SSGPO, Aluminium of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Aluminium Smelter (KAS), Eurasian Energy Corporation (EEC) and ENRC Logistics.

Other assets are mainly located in Africa, and include the copper and cobalt assets of Boss Mining, SMKK, Chambisi Metals PLC and Camrose Resourses Limited (Camrose). ENRC also owns Serov Group, ferroalloys producer in Russia, Bahia Minerals BV (BML) and Mineração Minas Bahia SA (MIBA), iron ore mining projects in Brazil, as well as stakes in the Xinjiang Tuoli Taihang Ferroalloy Company in China (Tuoli) and in Northam Platinum Limited, a major platinum producer in South Africa.

ENRC is a FTSE 100 company, currently employing over 70,000 people, of which 65,000 are located in Kazakhstan.

Investment projects

Since its inception in 1994, one of the priorities for ENRC was successful development of industrial and social projects in Kazakhstan. The company has already invested $7 bln in development of assets in Kazakhstan. Midterm capital expenditure program until 2016 in Kazakhstan amount to $5.6 bln.

Development of Kazakhstani assets is a key priority of ENRC investment strategy. Implementation of the Group’s investment projects brings global standards into Kazakhstan mining and metallurgy industry. ENRC’s global activity provides for a transfer of technological, ecological and management innovations. One of the examples is the construction of a new ferroalloys plant on the basis of TNC Kazchrome JSC with 440 ktpa of capacity. This unique breakthrough project totaling to $750 mln knows no equals in the world. Such projects enable ENRC to become an industrial brand of Kazakhstan.

ENRC considerably contributes to the development of the country’s industrial potential. Several ENRC projects have been included into the Map of Industrialisation of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the 2010-2014 State Program on Industrial Innovative Development. Construction of the second phase of the aluminum smelter, reconstruction of the power unit 2 at Aksu Power Station and construction of the metal rolling plant at SSGPO are already completed.

Social initiatives

Corporate social responsibility is a key strategic priority at ENRC. The company is interested in preservation and augmentation of historical and cultural values of the country. Since 2006 investments into external and internal social programs in Kazakhstan have amounted to more than KZT 77 bln (over $560 mln), of with KZT 46 bln (over $312 mln) were for sponsorship and charity.

For the last nine years ENRC annually signs Memorandums on mutual cooperation with local authorities (Akimats) of Pavlodar, Karagandy, Aktobe and Kostanay regions. Within these Memorandums ENRC and the Group enterprises finance important social charitable and sponsorship projects in these regions. In 2011 total investments into projects within Memorandums amounted to over KZT 5 bln (over $35 mln).

In 2011 ENRC donated $100 mln to development of Nazarbayev University.

Gold winner of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2010 Guangzhou Summer Olympics Iliya Ilyin, gold winners of 2010 Guangzhou Summer Olympics Maya Maneza and Svetlana Podobedova are amongst those who are sponsored by ENRC.

In 2008 ENRC was acknowledged as The best socially responsible company at the Presidential State contest on corporate social responsibility Paryz (Duty). In 2011 ENRC was acknowledged as The philanthropist of the year at the State contest Altyn Zhurek (Golden Heart).
