Sberbank of Russia is the biggest bank of the Russian Federation and the CIS.
Its assets make more than one forth of the banking system of the country (26%), and an interest in the bank capital is equal to 30% (1 November 2011). Sberbank of Russia was founded in 1841 and today it is the up-to-date multi-purpose bank satisfying needs of different groups of customers in a wide range of banking services. Sberbank takes the largest share in the deposit market and is the main creditor of the Russian economy. Raising funds of private customers and guarantee of safety thereof are basis of business of Sberbank, and development of mutually beneficial relations with depositors is a guarantee of its successful work. Loan portfolio of Sberbank includes approximately one third of all granted credits in Russia (31% retail and 31% corporate loans). In 2010 Sberbank actively granted credits to major corporate customers by granting funds for financing of current activity and investment programs, refinancing of credits with other banks, acquisition of assets and making transactions related with merger and takeover, financing of leasing transactions, expenses for participation in tenders, construction of residential buildings. Like in previous years, Sberbank directly participated in realization of the government programs.
According to information of the National Agency of Financial Studies awareness of Sberbank in Russia reaches 96%, reputation – 86%. According to information of Brand Finance Consulting Company published in the annual rating of “500 most expensive brands in the world”, Sberbank is recognized as the most expensive brand of Russia: its cost exceeded $12 billion.
Sberbank has unique branch network and at present 17 territorial banks and about 20 000 subdivisions through Russia are included therein. The Bank is constantly developing trade and export financing and actively works over extension of its international network. Subsidiary banks of Sberbank of Russia are operating in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Byelorussia. In accordance with the Development Strategy, Sberbank of Russia has extended its international presence, having opened the Representative Office in Germany and the branch in India, as well as it has registered the Representative Office in China.
Sberbank SB JSC is a subsidiary bank of Sberbank of Russia in Kazakhstan, which is successfully operating in the financial market of Kazakhstan for more than five years. Based on results of activity in 2011 the Bank changed the 11th place to the 7th one as per volume of assets and it took the 4th place as per net profit among all second-tier banks of Kazakhstan.
Sberbank is an active participant of government programs of Damu Business Development Fund, “Road map of business 2020”. In 2011 investments of Sberbank into real sector of economy totaled 400 billion 520 million tenge, from 2008 – 888 billion 218 million tenge.
Today Sberbank SB JSC has branch network consisting of 95 organization departments, 13 of which are branches. The Head Office of the Bank is located in Almaty City.

In 2011 Fitch Ratings International Rating Agency affirmed ratings of Sberbank SB JSC: long-term foreign and national currency issuer default rating (“IDR”) “BBB-“, short-term IDR “F3”, individual rating “D/E”, support rating “2” and national long-term rating “AA(kaz)”. Forecast for long-term IDR and national long-term rating is “Stable”. Ratings of subordinated bonds are affirmed at level “BB+” and “AA-(Kaz)”.
Sberbank Subsidiary Bank JSC recognizes social responsibility to the society and the State. The Bank is constantly rendering material support for sponsored children's homes through the Republic, orphan children, gravely ill children and the Great Patriotic War veterans.
In 2011 in honor of anniversary of Sberbank – the 170th anniversary of Sberbank of Russia and the 5th anniversary of presence in Kazakhstan – the charitable act “170 acts of kindness” was conducted in the Bank, within the framework of which different sponsor and charitable projects were implemented.
Thus, the grandiose children’s action “Picture on asphalt”, in which more than 1000 pupils from the schools of Shymkent City took part, took place in Shymkent City. Children drew 1 km length picture, which was devoted to the 20th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Day of Children Protection. Children’s playgrounds were installed in Almaty City in popular Parks of the city.
On the eve of the Day of Knowledge the action of Sberbank “Hurrah! I’m going to school”, within the framework of which the first formers – orphan children, children from lower-income families and children without care of parents – were granted school bags and school accessories, took place through the country.
