With its more than 135-year-long history, ExxonMobil is the world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas company, providing energy that helps underpin growing economies and improve living standards around the world. ExxonMobil worldwide has a resource base of 91 billion oil-equivalent barrels, and the industry’s strongest portfolio of proprietary technology.  We have an active exploration or production presence in more than 30 countries. We have a geographically diverse portfolio of more than 100 major projects and global gas and power marketing activities, as well as an industry-leading workforce safety performance. The company produces 4.1 million oil equivalent barrels of oil and gas daily around the world. Our fuels and lubricants marketing businesses have a global reach, supported by world-renowned brands, including Exxon, Mobil, and Esso.

ExxonMobil started in Kazakhstan in 1993, becoming one of the first major Western oil companies to invest in the newly independent Republic. We are active in development, production and transportation of oil and gas. ExxonMobil has a 25% interest in the Tengizchevroil (TCO) joint venture, which operates the super-giant Tengiz field, a 16.81% interest in the North Caspian Production Sharing Agreement (NCPSA) that includes the Kashagan field; and a 7.5% interest in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

 Investing in economy

TCO operates a production license encompassing the Tengiz and Korolev fields. The production from these fields is processed through an associated processing plant complex that includes one of the largest single oil and gas processing trains in the world and the world’s highest-pressure sour gas re-injection. In 2017, TCO produced 28.7 million metric tonnes (229 million barrels). TCO is progressing the Future Growth and Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP/WPMP) in accord with the final investment decision made in July 2016. This project is aligned with ExxonMobil’s investment strategy and long-term focus on developing world-class resources, with an emphasis on safety, cost management, disciplined execution and asset enhancement. The expansion project will continue to generate significant economic benefits for the people of Kazakhstan.

NCPSA covers an area of almost 5,700 sq km in Kazakhstan's sector of the Caspian Sea and includes the Kashagan, Kalamkas, Aktote, and Kairan discoveries. The Kashagan development includes an offshore production/separation hub on an artificial island, drilling islands, onshore oil stabilization facilities and onshore gas treating facilities. The NCPSA Operator is the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC), designed as a single, independent joint venture comprised primarily of national employees supplemented by expatriate employees of the co-venture companies. The facilities started producing in September 2016. NCOC has safely reached actual production levels of over 35.4 thousand metric tons (280 thousand barrels) per day in 2017. System utilization (production reliability) is exceeding forecasts. With the start-up of raw gas re-injection and better understanding of reservoir performance, it is expected that the project will need year 2018 to fully accomplish oil production ramp-up to a capacity of 370,000 barrels per day.

CPC operates a pipeline that runs from the Tengiz field in Kazakhstan to the Novorossiysk marine terminal on the Russian Black Sea coast. CPC completed Kazakhstan's end of expansion project in 2017 whilst in Russia, there is one oil-pumping station left to be put into operation. After the commissioning of the remaining facilities, the total throughput capacity of the pipeline will have been increased from 28.2 million tonnes to 67 million tonnes (1.4 million barrels per day). The pipeline system represents the most attractive export option for Kazakh crude oil and transports ExxonMobil equity production from the Tengiz and Kashagan fields.
