General information:

CNPC China National Petroleum Corporation is an international integrated energy company with a leading position in the world. CNPC is China's largest oil and gas producer and supplier. CNPC ranks 3rd among the 50 largest oil companies in the world, 5th according to the rating of 500 major global companies.

CNPC conducts oil and gas investment operations in 37 countries of the world, is engaged in the provision of engineering services at oil and gas facilities in 63 countries.

The scope: 

Oil and gas operations, exploration and production of oil and gas, oil refining and petrochemicals, sale of oil, gas and oil products, transportation of oil, gas and oil products through pipelines, engineering and technical services, geophysical exploration, well drilling and field geophysics, construction of infrastructure for oil and gas fields, pipelines, refineries and petrochemicals, production of oil equipment, financial services, financial management, financial insurance, credit order, commercial banks, the development of new energy sources.

CNPC Activities in Kazakhstan:

CNPC activities in Kazakhstan began in 1997. For more than 20 years of work, the Corporation has invested more than $ 45.7 billion in the country's oil and gas industry. About 47.1 billion US dollars of taxes and duties were paid to budgets of all levels, and social project expenses amounted to 373 million US dollars. As of May 2019, more than 30,000 workers and engineers are working at CNPC enterprises in Kazakhstan, with a local content of 98.3%.Currently, the corporation carries out the following operations: oil and gas investments and engineering and technical services at oil and gas fields. Together with the Kazakhstan side with the participation of CNPC, there are: 7 oil production projects, 2 oil pipelines, 2 gas pipelines, an oil refinery and a large-diameter steel pipe plant. 

CNPC PROJECTS IN KAZAKHSTAN

JSC «CNPC-Aktobemunaigas»:

In 1997, CNPC was included in this project. Currently, CNPC owns 89.17% of the company. The company has licenses and contracts for the development of the fields Zhanazhol, Kenkiyak nadsolevoy, Kenkiyak podsolevoy, Northern Truva and for exploration of the Central block of the eastern part of the Caspian depression.

JSC «PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources» (PKKR):

In October 2005, CNPC acquired 100% of the shares of «PetroKazakhstan», then 33% of the shares were resold by «NK KazMunayGas» JSC. PetroKazakhstan is a vertically integrated oil and gas group, whose shareholders are the “China National Petroleum Corporation” and the national company «KazMunayGas». The scope of «PetroKazakhstan» activities includes: exploration, field development, oil and gas production, and the processing and sale of oil and oil products. Due to its integration, the company has ample opportunities to improve product quality and increase production efficiency. The main assets of the company include: «PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources», «Kazgermunai», «Turgai Petroleum», as well as deposits located in the South Turgai Depression in the Kyzylorda Oblast.

JSC «MangistauMunaiGas»:

In 2009, CNPC and KMG jointly acquired the company on an equal footing. The main industrial objects for the development and production of carbohydrates are the Kalamkas and Zhetybai deposits, 13 other deposits in the Mangistau region, 8 condensate deposits in the West Kazakhstan region and two exploration blocks in the Caspian in the Atyrau region.

Buzachi Operating Ltd.:

Since 2003, CNPC has been participating in this project. CNPC currently holds a 50% stake in the company. «Buzachi Operating Ltd.» is an operator company developing the North Buzachi field, which is located 250 km away from the city of Aktau, Mangistau region.

JSC «CNPC-AiDanMunai»:

In 2005, CNPC acquired 100% of the shares of «CNPC-AiDanMunay» JSC. The main activity is exploration and production of hydrocarbon raw materials. The company has licenses for exploration and production of the Arys and Blinovskoye deposits in the Kyzylorda region.

LLP «JV KuatAmlonMunai»:

In 2004, CNPC entered into this project and has a 25% stake in the company. JV KuatAmlonMunay LLP is developing two oil fields in the Kyzylorda region. The company is engaged in field exploration, sale of oil and oil products and the supply of raw materials to oil refineries in Kazakhstan.

NCOC (North Caspian Operating Company) B.V.:

Since 2013, CNPC has been participating in this project, owns 8.33% of the shares in the company, and is not a project operator.

«PetroKazakhstan Oil Products» LLP:

CNPC and KMG jointly own 50% of the refinery. The capacity of the enterprise is 6 million tons of oil. In 2016-2019 modernization of the plant for the production of high-quality petroleum products, including Euro standard - IV and V.

«Kazakhstan-China Pipeline» LLP:

The company was established in July 2004 by CNPC and KMG on an equal share basis. Construction began in September 2004: at the end of 2005, the first Atasu-Alashankou section was built, in 2009 the second Kenkiyak-Kumkol section. Oil transportation capacity is 20 million tons per year. The construction of the pipeline resolved the issue of diversification of transportation of Kazakhstani oil for export.

«North-West Pipeline Company «MunaiTas» LLP:

«Northwest Pipeline Company «MunaiTas» JSC is a joint venture for the design, financing, construction and operation of the Kenkiyak-Atyrau oil pipeline, which is part of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline. The company was established on December 11, 2001 with the participation of KMG - 51 % of shares, CNPC - 49%. In May 2003, the construction of the oil pipeline (Kenkiyak-Atyrau) with a total length of 448.85 km and a capacity of 6 million tons per year was completed.

«Asian Gas Pipeline» LLP (AGP):

The company was established in 2007 on an equal basis of CNPC and KMG. The gas pipeline (Shymkent - Khorgos) consists of three lines «A», «B», «C». The construction of line «A» was completed in December 2009, line «B» in October 2010, and line «C» in May 2014. The gas pipeline is over 1300 km long, with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year.

«Beineu-Shymkent» LLP (gas pipeline):

The company was established in January 2011 on an equal basis of CNPC and JSC NC «KazMunayGas». The gas pipeline is 1,477 km long, with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year. The gas pipeline is one of the leading infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan: it is included in the list of investment strategic projects of the Industrialization Map for 2010-2014. The project carried out extensive work to determine the optimal conditions for a feasibility study for construction, taking into account financing and compliance with environmental standards. The pipeline is of strategic importance in providing domestic natural gas to the south of Kazakhstan.

«Asian Steel Pipe Plant» LLP (ASPC) in Almaty:

In 2019, the construction of the Asian large-diameter steel pipe plant in Almaty was completed to provide pipes of Kazakhstan production for existing and under construction of oil and gas pipelines in the country.
