Citi was among the first global banks to
establish a presence in Kazakhstan. The
representative office opened in Almaty in April 1994, followed by the receipt
of a full commercial banking license in 1998, when Citibank Kazakhstan JSC
(Citi) expanded its services to corporate clients.
Today, Citi is recognized
as one of the leading international banks in Kazakhstan, serving as a key
partner for international companies and investors, the Government of
Kazakhstan, and many of the country’s largest enterprises.
With its head
office in Almaty and a branch in Astana, Citi has operated in Kazakhstan for
more than 30 years, offering a broad range of products and services to its
clients.
In 2025, the
financial publication Euromoney recognized Citi as the Best International Bank
in Kazakhstan for the second consecutive year.
