The 31st Plenary Session of the Foreign Investors’ Council chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was held today in Astana. The main topic of the event was "Accelerated modernization."
Leaders of large multinational companies discussed such issues as digital transformation, application of new technologies, prospects for further economic growth, modernization through digitalization (implementation of digital technologies in the extraction of products), introduction of elements of Industry 4.0, as well as infrastructure modernization and training issues.
Head of Stat, Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Sir Suma Chakrabarti, Minister of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhenis Kassymbek, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhakip Asanov, Chairman, Kazakhstan Foreign Investor’s Council Association, Agris Preimanis, Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Timur Suleimenov, President of LUKOIL, Vagit Alekperov, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Shell plc, Ben van Beurden, President of Exxon Mobil Production Company, Neil Duffin, President of Polymetal UK, Igor Finogenov, Vice President for Continental Europe & Caspian, Total Exploration & Production, Bernard Clement, Executive Vice President of Chevron Corporation, Jay Johnson, Chairman of the Management Board of Eurasian Development Bank, Andrey Beliyaninov, Chairman, President and CEO Baker Hughes, GE company, Lorenzo Simonelli, and others spoke at the Session.
Since the FIC establishment, 30 Plenary Sessions chaired by the Head of State have been already held. A wide range of issues such as improving the legal regime for foreign investment in the country, improving the judicial system of Kazakhstan, optimizing the tax system and attracting foreign labor, improving the investment image of Kazakhstan, energy of the future and a number of other issues have been discussed in the Sessions.
The Foreign Investors’ Council is a unique platform chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Council was established in 1998 to provide direct dialogue between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign investors for an effective solution of the problematic issues related to their investment activities in the country and improvement of the investment climate in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The FIC includes the heads of 35 large multinational foreign companies and international organizations.
