Foreign members of the FIC Investment Policy Working Group discussed the current issues of investment legal proceedings during the roundtable organized by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with American Bar Association ABA ROLI.
The roundtable was also attended by U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Mr. William H. Moser, judges of the Supreme and local courts, members of the Astana International Financial Centre, International Council, and around 200 participants, including international experts, investors, and representatives of government agencies and organizations.
The meeting was moderated by the Acting Chairman of the Specialized Judicial Collegium of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Aigul Kydyrbayeva.
Participants discussed challenges and perspectives of investment dispute resolution and provided recommendations for improving the investment climate.
Judge Elizabeth S. Stong, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of New York, shared best practices of the US legal system and presented effective resolution of investment disputes.
Following the discussion, the roundtable participants voiced suggestions and made recommendations, which are subject to the direction of the competent and interested authorities and institutions.
The roundtable is held on an annual basis since 2017. It serves as a platform and gives an opportunity for representatives of governmental bodies and investment, consulting companies to openly discuss actual issues of investment proceedings and intellectual property rights and develop ways and further recommendations of improving the investment climate.
