A round table was held on the topic “CCUS and the development of the legislative framework in the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

The topic of decarbonization of the economy and low-carbon technologies application to comply with environmental, social and governance standards (ESG) was discussed at the 34th Plenary Session of the Foreign Investors' Council chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tokayev K.K, held on June 9, 2022.

In furthering the discussion on this topic, the KFICA foreign oil and gas company – members, together with state bodies and organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a round table on the topic of “CCUS and the development of the legislative framework in the Republic of Kazakhstan” on October 31,2022.

The purpose of the round table was to share international experience in the field of application of CCUS technology and the best regulatory framework models for CCUS. 

The speakers at the round table were experts from international oil and gas companies such as Shell, Eni, ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies EP Kazakhstan and Chevron.

Foreign Investors' Council chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FIC)

Foreign Investors' Council (FIC) is an advisory and consultative body, chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 3985 of June 30, 1998 in order to ensure a direct dialogue between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign investors to effectively address problematic issues related to their investment activities in the country and improve the investment climate in the Republic.

The main tasks of the Council are to develop recommendations and proposals to the President and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on key aspects of investment policy and economic development of the country.

Kazakhstan Foreign Investors’ Council Association (KFICA)

Kazakhstan Foreign Investors’ Council Association (hereinafter - KFICA) was established in 2001 on the initiative of foreign members of the FIC as the official Secretariat and coordinator of the Council's activities from a foreign party.

On behalf of its members, KFICA also works to establish partnerships with representatives of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, government agencies, foreign companies, the diplomatic corps, business associations, etc.

Together with the Kazakh party, KFICA is engaged in planning and organizing, preparing the substantive part of the interim and plenary meetings of the Council chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The members of the Association are the heads of foreign companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan, appointed by the global heads of the member companies of the Council.
